En los textos que constituyen este volumen se analiza la situacin presente de la economa mexicana, precisamente inscrita en la regin de Amrica del Norte. Se estudian algunos aspectos del proceso econmico, temas y actores sociales que se consideran cruciales: las empresas, la industria maquiladora, el empleo y su evolucin en la manufactura; el comportamiento de la inversin extranjera directa; la unin monetaria, el debate sobre el rea monetaria ptima y los regmenes de tipos de cambio en la zona.
